MIT Draws First Blood Against the Irish
In a tightly contested match between Highfield RFC and MIT rugby, MIT
eacked
out a win. MIT travelled light to the pitch, but picked up a pair of
capable backs, a flanker, and an handy scrum-half at the pitch. The
first
half saw MIT come out to a fast start. First blood was scored by a
"borrowed" full back, with the try converted in the 7th minute of play.
MIT
scored again on solid rucking and excellent ball control. Highfield
didn't
give up though. They scored two tries in the first half. Another try by
MIT before the half was converted to put MIT solidly ahead at the break.
(21-10)
The second half saw Highfield regroup strongly. Two unanswered tries (one
converted) made the game extremely close. MIT though put on extra effort
and clinched the game by scoring two tries to put the score at 28-27.
