Match Report: MIT at Old Gold
May 5, 2007
In
general a good performance against a solid 2nd division side.
In fact, aside from their outstanding flyhalf, I don’t think they really
had much on us. Perhaps a little bit more disciplined in the loose, and
more cohesive three-quarter plays (but that comes with practice…….). In
general a good performance, and although they did score 5 times in the
first half, they kept their A boys in longer than agreed, I think because
we were better than they expected. Once they began cycling out their
A-guys the game was ours for the taking, as indicated by the fact that we
comprehensively outscored them in the second half. Good rucking, with
some weakness in defending the ball once the ruck formed, and reasonable
mauling, but with difficulties coping with an organized attacking maul.
Half-back pairing needs playing/practice time! Other than that a good
performance. We need a kicker…..
Final
score:
Old
gold 35 MIT 20 (Wiggie 2, Paddy 1, Joe 1, no conversions)
