Match Report: MIT at UC Galway
Ireland Tour- March 28, 2007
MIT Loses the Battle... But Wins the War
MIT made the drive from Cork City to Galway with high expectations.
After
arriving at Galway 1.5 hours before the match, MIT rugby discovered that
Harvard's undergraduate squad was staying at the same hostel. MIT
borrowed
heavily from the Harvard squad, and filled its roster one hour before the
match.
The match saw MIT come out slow, but hold UCGalway scoreless for 10
minutes.
The tries came like rain though, for UC Galway as mistakes and
miscommunication in the MIT squad caused some inconsistent rubgby. Half
time saw a welcome respite from the Galway scoring. MIT stiffened and
actually put together phases to pressure the defense. In the end though
Galway outmatched the MIT/Harvard mixed side ~70 to 12. Tries were
scored
by John (Baby Tuggs Bear) Scheckter, and big guy from Harvard.
In the third half MIT was invited to a bar called the Hole in The Wall.
After much carousing and general merriment, MIT Rugby won the boat race.
Truly legendary performances were put in by Cody "Share Bear Care Bear"
Patrick and Nick "Do Your Best Bear" Allard. The Irish were truly
impressed. Next stop Dublin and the big city.

The head hurts, but it is much smaller than it was on Sunday. I'll live.
