Match Report: MIT at Harvard Business School October 29, 2006
Well, a disappointing end to the season. MIT showed up in numbers and clearly had more desire to be out there playing in attrocious conditions. Despite the slippery wet conditions the game looked evenly matched, with MIT looking a touch more controlled in the rucks and much more threatening out wide. However, an early intercept try by HBS rocked us back and we never really recovered our poise. Some excellent defensive work, some great offensive rucking and mauling and threatening looking back line were not enough to recover in a game which was always going to come down to one or two pivotal plays. In general a good performance, with us being edged (I don't think the score does it justice) by a team who managed to hold it together just a little bit better in those awful conditions.
14-0 final score to HBS
Thanks to everyone who came out (particularly the subs - sorry for messing up the time for you guys). Also thanks to everyone who played through the season at any point. Formal season is done for now but remember the old boys game on the 12th of November. No training this week and then we will try to start up informal touch next week.
Keep the weekend of the banquet clear. Finally, the team will be voting at the banquet for the exec committee. Any or all of these guys can stay the same, but you have to make the decision. Start thinking about who you would like in these roles.
Thanks for a good season, 7-3 on the season (6-3 league), edged into 6th by HBS. Middlesex topped the table (pending changes by Bob - there is some formula he will apply). High points and low points but in general really happy. Start thinking about next season and stay fit over the winter.
