Match Report: MIT v. Boston Irish Wolfhounds B-Side
September 23, 2006

Final Score:

MIT- 29 Wolfhounds- 5

A superb performance against a strong team this weekend. In recent years we have struggled against the wolfhounds, mainly on the basis of their excellent forwards play, and direct running backs. They are not a flshy team but they do the basics vary well. This weekend I think they expected more of the same, but MIT, and particularly the forwards, gave them no option. As Slasher said in the first half, their backs never ran any moves which is a testament to the pressure on the forwards and the excellent defensive pressure placed on the backs. a really excellent performance by the entire team, but in particular the forwards, against an extremely strong rucking/mauling side. The first half was tight with the game ready to go either way. Finally the deadlock was broken by Barry with an individual drive over. In the second half the Wolfhounds hit back within 2 mins to level the scores and ilooked like things were going to be tight again, but in the space of 12 mins Barry, Paco and Evan ran in three tries (2 conversions by Frank) and then super-sub Slasher sealed the deal 4 mins from time with a fifth try. Great work guys!
